My Trip to Europe

As an assignment for school, I had to write an essay on the places I have been and the places I would like to go. I have been lucky to visit many incredible places at such a young age, so this assignment was relatively easy for me to complete. For the essay, I focused on my trip to Europe back in 2013. At the end of 2012, my uncle moved to Liverpool, England, which was the perfect excuse to go. So my mother and I jumped across the Atlantic Ocean and spend three weeks of our summer vacation travelling around Europe.

We went to three places: Liverpool, London, and Barcelona. In Liverpool, my uncle took us on a tour of "The Beatles Landmarks." If you did not know, the world-famous 60's rock band The Beatles originated in Liverpool. We went to a few of the members' childhood homes and other landmarks. We also went to the Cavern Club. The Cavern Club has featured up-and-coming musicians since it was first opened in the 50's, including the Beatles.

The Globe Theatre
In London, my mom and I let our inner tourist out. We went to the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Parliament, and the Globe Theatre, which was my favorite. The Globe Theatre is one of the most famous theaters in the world because of one man: William Shakespeare. This theater was the first place to perform the plays written by the revolutionary and world famous playwright William Shakespeare. While there, I saw costumes and props from my favorite Shakespeare plays, such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and more.

La Sagrada Familia
Lastly, we went to Barcelona. I loved Barcelona. We went to the Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllo, two of the architect Antoni Gaudi's most famous buildings. At the Sagrada Familia, you have the option of taking an elevator up to the top and them making your way back down on foot. The views were absolutely breathtaking. I could see the Mediterranean Sea, Tibidabo Amusement Park, and more. That was undoubtably my favorite part of the entire church. Plus, I got to practice my Spanish-Speaking skills;)

I learned three things while in Europe. First off, people with Liverpool accents are almost impossible to understand (no offence, Liverpudlians). Secondly, if you ever find yourself in Barcelona, do not bump into anyone and keep your bags close. Lastly, I want, rather I need, to go back.
